ARTICLES AND BY-LAWS
OF THE
USS GUNSTON HALL LSD 5 REUNION ASSOCIATION
ARTICLE I - Purpose
Section 1
The purpose of the USS Gunston Hall LSD 5 Reunion Association (hereafter called
Association) is to locate former members of the ships company and hold shipmate
reunions.
ARTICLE II - Membership
Section 1
Membership is extended to all former ships company, with their spouses and dependents afforded Honorary membership.
Section 2
A special invitation is extended to other members of the military services, who served on board, to participate in the reunions of the Association.
ARTICLE III - Meetings
Section 1
Meetings and locations shall be determined by the Executive Committee, after due
consideration of requests by the membership.
ARTICLE IV - Officers
Section 1
The Executive Committee shall consist of a Chairman and a Treasurer and Executive Officers. The number of officers shall be determined by the Executive Committee.
Section 2
Any member of the Association is eligible to be an officer. Nominations may be made by the membership for consideration by the Executive Committee.
Section 3
All appointments, by the Executive Committee, to an office, will be presented to the membership for approval.
Section 4
The Officers shall serve until such time as a vacancy occurs due to death, resignation or by other means. Any vacancy occurring will be filled as set forth in Section 2 of this article.
ARTICLE V - Duties of Officers
Section 1
The Chairman shall conduct all of the business of the Association as outlined in Article I, Section 1. He will be assisted by the Treasurer and other Committee members appointed by the Executive Committee.
Section 2
The Treasurer shall maintain all financial records of the Association. He will be responsible for collecting dues established by the Executive Committee and prepare financial statements to be available for membership approval at our business meetings.
ARTICLE VI - Dues
Section 1
The annual membership dues shall be determined by the Executive Committee and will be consistent with the need for finances to support the task of locating former shipmates. Other expenses related to conducting the business of the Association, such as a newsletter and other benefits, shall be determined by the Executive Committee. No compensation shall accrue to any member of the Association.
Section 2
Members must have their Association dues current in order to attend reunions and vote or participate in any GHRA matters.
ARTICLE VII - Amendments
Section 1
Amendments to any of these articles or the requirements set forth shall be agreed upon by all members of the Executive Committee and receive a voice approval vote of the members present at a regular meeting.
ARTICLE VIII - Adoption of By-Laws
Section 1
These by-laws are adopted the 2nd day of May, 2005 by approval of the Executive Committee and voice vote of the members present.
